Areola Restoration

Areola restoration with permanent makeup is a specialized procedure designed to recreate the natural appearance of the areola and nipple, most commonly after breast surgery such as mastectomy or reconstruction. Through advanced pigment techniques, this service helps restore balance, soften the appearance of scars, and support a sense of wholeness and confidence.

Each Areola Tattooing Session begins with a detailed consultation. Together, we select pigment tones, size, and shape that harmonize with your skin tone, anatomy, and personal preferences. Every detail is carefully planned to achieve a realistic, natural result.

For clients seeking the most lifelike outcome, 3D nipple tattooing can be incorporated into the procedure. Using advanced shading, depth, and color layering, the nipple is visually reconstructed to create a three-dimensional effect — without surgery. This technique allows for a highly realistic appearance, even when the nipple structure is no longer present.

Testimonials

  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before the procedure
  • Injectable treatments, fillers, chemical peels, or laser procedures should be done at least 3 weeks before or after permanent makeup

Permanent makeup may not be recommended or may require medical clearance in the following cases:

  6. Pregnancy or breastfeeding (optional — include only if applicable)
  7. Under 18 years of age
Please ensure that you have fully recovered from surgery and that your physician has approved this procedure. No special preparation is required prior to your appointment. We kindly ask that you review the Contraindications section before scheduling.

Immediately after the procedure, mild redness and swelling are normal and usually subside within 1–3 hours. The areola may appear brighter at first; as healing progresses, the color and shape will soften and settle into a more natural appearance within 7–10 days.

After the procedure, a special healing film will be applied. This film acts as a protective barrier, similar to a second skin, helping reduce the risk of infection and supporting comfortable healing. You may wear underwear over the area, but avoid tight clothing or pressure.

The healing film should remain in place for 4–5 days. You may remove it yourself once this period has passed. Remove the film slowly and gently, pulling it in the opposite direction to minimize irritation.

After removing the film:

  • Gently wash the areola with lukewarm water and a mild liquid soap
  • Apply a thin layer of a moisturizing ointment, such as petroleum jelly (Vaseline)
  • Use the moisturizer twice daily until the skin no longer feels dry

After approximately one month, assess the final result. If needed, a touch-up session may be scheduled, but no later than three months after the initial procedure.

Important Aftercare Guidelines

  • Avoid applying cosmetics or skincare products to the areola for at least 7 days
  • Refrain from heavy physical activity for 3 days
  • Avoid sun exposure for at least 5 days; after that, use SPF 30–50 when exposed
  • Avoid pools, saunas, and excessive moisture during healing
  • Do not pick, scratch, or peel the skin — allow healing to occur naturally

The full appointment typically takes approximately three hours. We begin with a consultation to discuss your preferences, followed by my recommendations on the most suitable technique, pigment shade, and shape to complement your anatomy. A pre-drawing is then created, and adjustments are made until you feel fully comfortable with the design.

Your comfort is always a priority. A topical numbing cream is applied before the procedure and allowed time to take effect (approximately 20–25 minutes). Once numb, the pigmentation process begins.

The tattooing portion of the session usually lasts 60–90 minutes. Additional numbing may be applied throughout the procedure if needed to maintain comfort.

After the session is complete, you may return to your normal daily activities. Please be sure to follow the aftercare instructions carefully to support proper healing and optimal results.
